Chorlton Arts Festival

Eco Fashion Show.

So as you know, the show has now been and gone, and I'm hoping there is someone out there reading this who saw it for themselves!
Backstage was manic but we pulled it off, and it looked brilliant from where I was, so I'm sure it looked even better from the crowd!
I'm still waiting to recieve all the photos from the show, but here are a few anyway,

Chorlton Arts Festival

Today I've been working with Charlotte Waterman jewellery designer and Sam Fairbrothers Photographer on the Chorlton Art Festival's Eco Fashion Show.
Along side a fashion show in a few weeks time (more photos to come), a leaflet will be made from todays shooting.
I feel proud to say that I have helped with a large amount of the fashion styling on this shoot, helping to present local designer's eco friendly fashion pieces, from vintage to fair trade.
Everyone helping out is volunteering, including many students and unpaid models. With two make-up artists and one hair dresser all from Stockport School of Make-up, we created some beautiful images.

More pictures to come!

Scott Kershaw

Ok so working with Scott Kershaw, the photographer, and Ian Smith art director I've been helping out with a project for the Manchester City Council this week. Travelling to different wards within Manchester we have been creating stunning portraits of normal people who work for the council. Trying to capture Pride In Their Jobs, Scott's photography will be showcased in the new Council buildings, following an exhibiton for all involved.
Here's some backstage photo's from some of the shoots.

Lots more photo's on the way!

Work Experience Placement!

So I've finally found a placement, just in time to not have to do the other project at uni (Thank God!).

I've checked out my new boss' website and I really suggest you do too!
Scott Kershaw is an amazing photographer with collaborations with the likes of Baby Shambles, Bono, The Courteeners, Kasabian and more.
I'm starting my placement with him next week, so keep checking back with me to hopefully see some exciting photos!

I'm hating...

That everyone but me seems to have already recieved their next student loan installment, when I could REALLY do with it... today. Right now. Please. Stupid Banks....

I'm Loving....

Alexander McQueen's final collection.
80% finished at the time of McQueen's death, this collection was presented to a small number of editors in a much lesser and quieter way than his last collection.
Looking at medieval beauty, the dark ages, full of light, texture and pattern, this collection screams glamour.
McQueen achieved alot in his time, and this collection is a perfect final glance at his life and creations.

I particularly love this last gown, the shapes created and the beautifully ornate designs on the bottom of the dress are genius.

Oops...

OK So on my last entry I said I'd really get going with this Blog didn't I?
And what have I done?
Nothing.
Sorry about that...
It turns out that my planned work experience placement this month has been cancelled, so I have been spending all my computer time, trying to find someone else to take me on, which is bloody hard!
I haven't really got much to update at the moment, I've found no new loves, and have not been searching through style.com, but maybe tonight I will get the chance... Maybe.

Easter...

OK, so term's finished and I'm back at home for Easter.
Normally... Great!
For me... Not so.
I'm going to try and really put some effort into getting this blog up and running properly over the holiday, but at the moment I'm just trying to get away.
As per usual...
This place is like hell.

I'm Loving....

Alice and Olivia's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

Normally, this kind of style is soo not me, but there's just something about the girlyness in this collection that I really love. As style.com rightly says, the collection is like "candy".... or sweets for us English. And I can see the strong Alice in Wonderland inspiration when it comes to prints and hats!
(which by the way is brilliant, and if you haven't seen it yet, do so!!)

I love the idea of being able to wear these gorgeous little hats on nights out and general day way, instead of them being restricted to big glamorous events such as weddings and the races. Can you Imagine glamour coming back to the English public?! ....No more bum cheeks hanging from under neath mini skirts, boobs and stomachs popping out of tops that are too small, and hair that looks like the owner has been dragged through a bush backwards?... No. Unfortunately I can't either... Nice to dream though...

You can find Alice and Olivia's full collection here at style.com
